WISDOM WEDNESDAY: Microwaving vs. Marinating

IN TODAY’S SOCIETY, most people enjoy the convenience of having things done quick, fast, and in a hurry. We have at our fingertips a plethora of fast food restaurants allowing us to have it our way.  Not long ago, while watching television, we would have to endure endless commercials interrupting our favorite shows. Now, we can actually bypass all of the commercials by using a DVR system.  Can you remember the last time you actually wrote a letter to a loved one requiring a stamp? Now we can instantly communicate through the sending of emails or text messages within seconds.  Not to mention, the capability of paying all of our bills online, which is practically annihilating our U.S. Postal Service, rendering it useless.   We are a society that thrives on instant gratification. We have become so accustomed to this way of life that when we are pressed to really wait on something for any length of time, we lose sight of the value of allowing something to truly marinate. Even with regards to a great bottle of wine, aren’t we told that it gets better with time? To bring a life into this world, is it not the expectancy for it to take an average of 40 weeks for full development? When we turn 18, we are legally considered to be an adult. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you are grown. In terms of maturity, isn’t that born out of experience and wisdom? Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

  • When the collection calls are coming in and the only thing you’re able to provide is an empty promise of payment…what do you do?
  • When you are called to pray for someone, but YOU are in desperate need of prayer…what do you do?
  • When you are feeling lost, alone and void of hope…what do you do?
  • When your pain from the loss of a loved one is so unbearable that the thought of getting out of bed is….what do you do?

It’s, actually, more simple then you would think…you PRAY through it. You pray through your BROKENNESS. Even when the pain is so intense, and the words aren’t forming for you. Allow your moans to be heard. It is at this time that the Holy Spirit will intercede on your behalf. GOD will send His angels your way because He promises never to leave you nor forsake you. BUT…He doesn’t always come when we want Him to come, and this is the part that is most difficult for us to understand. “He doesn’t come when you want Him, but He’s right on time!” Well, whose clock is He exactly looking at? Because from where I’m sitting the situation looks pretty dire. You see, the fact that He is Omniscient, Omnipresent, & Omnipotent allows us with even the Faith of a mustard seed to be blessed. He knows our situation and He is building us up while in the fire. Let’s take a moment and think about this: If GOD fixed all of our problems before we had a chance to sweat about it, how convincing would our faith walk be when giving a testimony of what GOD has done for us? He already knows the outcome, but He’s allowing us to develop a relationship with Him. Much like a child to his parent. When we were young, the great majority of us, never asked our parents, “Are we eating dinner tonight?” Instead, the question was either, “What’s for dinner?” or “What time is dinner?” We have to approach our Heavenly Father in this same manner because He wants to take care of us. He tells us that His yolk is easy and His burden is light. So, the next time you find yourself in a desperate situation, drawer near to your Father and He will draw near to you. So, as difficult as this may be for you to hear, I would rather marinate in the love and care of the LORD than to have a minute miracle which refutes my faith. So, if you call me to inquire, please know that I have walked my Pathway to Spiritual Rebirth and I’m here to help you with yours.
